Cary Rail Hawks
Cary RailHawks U23s are an American soccer team, founded in 2002. The team is a member of the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, and plays in the Southeast Division of the Southern Conference against teams from Atlanta, Bradenton, Greensboro, Nashville, Orlando, Panama City and West Palm Beach.
The team began life with the name Raleigh CASL Elite, and was run by the Raleigh-based Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) until 2005. Prior to the beginning of the 2006 season the CASL organization severed its ties. The team was taken over by the Morrisville, North Carolina-based Next Level Academy, and was re-named Raleigh Elite. In March 2007, the Next Level Academy formed a partnership with USL First Division team the Carolina RailHawks, who subsequently became the team's parent professional club, and the team was re-named Cary RailHawks U23s.
The RailHawks play their home matches on Field 2 at WakeMed Soccer Park in the city of Cary, North Carolina, 11 miles west of Raleigh in the area known as The Triangle.
The RailHawks’ roster is typically made up of collegiate students from local area universities such as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, North Carolina State University, and Campbell University as well as top-level amateurs from the local area. The RailHawks' chief rivals are the Carolina Dynamo and the Richmond Kickers Future.
